b’Subject: Nursing’
b’Topic: Module1: Discussion 1: Unappreciated, Overworked and Underpaid’
b’First and foremost, I love and proud to be a nurse but I also need to elaborate on the emotional and physical stress that we go through as nurses on a daily basis starting with lack of staffing, dealing with family members, PCA / CNA\xe2\x80\x99s attitude. (I\xe2\x80\x99m sure we all can agree on that) As nurses, the challenges that we face everyday can be physically and emotionally draining. We have been recognized as the main work force in the Health Care Industry and yet we are not rewarded in our salary. I strongly feel like that we are underpaid for the amount of work that we do. We face a variety of challenges that makes our job difficult. I enjoy patient care don\xe2\x80\x99t get me wrong, and it is also important for me to emphasize that I did not go into nursing for the money, but I did not go into nursing to be unappreciated and underpaid either. I love helping people, caring for them and their families in their darkest hours and supporting them through it, yet the sacrifices that we as nurses make for minimal pay and appreciation is demoralizing. There is no doubt that Nursing is still one of the most inspiring and fulfilling career ever. We are known for our ability to care for others and do a million things all at once. We are amazing at what we do as far as making sure that our patients, families, and everyone else is cared for, but not always so good at remembering to take care of ourselves. I never second-guess my decision to become a nurse. Even though we are overworked and underpaid, the true reward comes in the form of appreciation from my patients and knowing that I helped them the best way I can.\n\nReferences:\n\nU.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. 2005.
