Future of the Workplace Final Essay project
As we have learned, the nature of the workplace is changing rapidly. The rise in the use of robots and artificial intelligence has decimated the employment prospects for many employees in many industries. It has also changed the nature of the role of human resource professionals. With that as a background, compose a paper that addresses the following:
Provide a general overview on the rise in the use of robots and artificial intelligence in the workplace. Present evidence that the use of robots and artificial intelligence is increasingly taking the employment opportunities to which humans have traditionally performed, including the level and scope of this trend.
Assess how this trend has affected the promise and security of continued employment for some/many in the United States economy, including an assessment on how the nature and type of employment is changing for the typical US worker (e.g., more part-time employment or static wages).
Present the criteria a human resource professional should review before determining whether a position should be filled by a robot or through artificial intelligence.
Discuss how these trends will affect the role of human resources, including the typical human resource functions such as recruitment, compensation, labor relations, risk and liability management, and organizational effectiveness.
Finally, discuss the role and duty a human resource professional has to ensure full employment for employees and, most importantly, the responsibility human resources should assume for those workers displaced by a world where robots and artificial intelligence are increasingly performing.
Your paper should be:
13-15 pages (approximately 3,000-4,500 words) in length (not including title and reference pages).
Formatted according to the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.).
Supported by six scholarly sources. The CSU Global library (Links to an external site.) is a good place to locate these sources.
Below I attached my outline on future of the workplace, refer to this as well to use on this final project, I also attached the annotated bibliography with some of the references I want you to use. Please ensure that all documents are scholarly!!
After reading the unit lesson (summary attached as unit II guide), research a company of your choosing to create a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. Please note the importance of picking a company with enough information and sources to support your analysis. Selecting a publicly held company is recommended. Your chosen company will be used throughout the assignments in this course. These assignments allow for a truly comprehensive business analysis, similar to what you would conduct when working for a major company.
Your analysis should identify the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Use Microsoft Word and create four sections for your paper using the SWOT categories as your headings. Additional headers, such as an introduction, company background, and conclusion, are acceptable. Add a title page and references page. You may also use the provided template to complete the assignment (attached) .
Each SWOT category should have approximately 200-300 words describing the issues and the company’s strategic philosophy that fall within that area. The total length should be at least three pages. The opportunities and threats should each have at least ten items identified.
Remember as you develop a SWOT that strengths and weaknesses are internal and controllable factors that affect only the individual firm (e.g., finances, marketing, management and leadership, research and development, corporate culture, human resources). Opportunities and threats, on the other hand, are external and uncontrollable factors that affect all industry firms (e.g., politics, economics, societal and cultural trends, technology, laws and regulations, and the natural environment, such as climate).
Format your SWOT Analysis using APA Style. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism. The title and reference page do not count towards the minimum page requirement of three pages.
Over the course of these eight units, we will be developing a course project. We will do a single section of the course project in every unit by completing one section of the course project, and then adding to it with the subsequent work in the following unit. This unit work will be in the form of unit projects.
In following units (Units II, III, V, VI, and VIII), the Unit Lesson will contain an interactive model that will enable you to effectively select the most appropriate equipment and technology to engineer into your waste management system design for the facility. It is imperative that you read the Unit Lessons within the study guide in each unit, use the interactive model, and consider the current (as well as previous) material from Bahadori’s (2014) textbook in every unit. This project will serve as a comprehensive demonstration of your applied learning of engineering industrial and hazardous waste treatment systems.
Your course project will be to develop a document titled “A Proposal for an Industrial Waste Treatment Facility” and will serve as a simulation of your work as a contract environmental engineer for a small, rural town in the United States.
The Scenario:
You have contracted with the city named Small Town, USA, to design and engineer a municipal industrial waste pre-treatment facility. The city currently accepts liquid wastes from three significant industrial users (SIU): (a) a petroleum refinery, (b) an animal rendering plant, and (c) a tanker truck washout. In an effort to capture revenue, the city is currently accepting the liquid waste physically hauled by tanker truck from all three SIU members and is subsequently collecting the liquid wastes into a 300,000 gallon storage tank, pending your facility design.
The city wants to be able to effectively treat and neutralize the liquid waste, landfill or reuse the sludge in an agriculture application, and discharge the neutralized treatment plant effluent water to the existing municipal (residential) wastewater plant for final treatment after successfully meeting the local limits for each analyte.
